I haven't been traveling solo much (or at all) due to health reasons. I am SO grateful to have friends to travel with but it does come with its own challenges. One of those being tied to the other person's schedule (or birthday LOL).
When that happens to fall during high season, you're screwed. Does it really matter? Yes! Okay here's one example. We're going on an EPIC trip in January. Part of which takes us to Thailand where I'll end up on my own at the end. I figured I'll stay and go to an island or something.
There's one place in particular I thought I'd go, Koh Ngai. There's a hotel that costs $25/nt right on the beach. I went to book it and it's literally double the price in the high season. :( Everything costs more, it's more crowded, things sell out, and it's all just more of a hassle. Darn.
There's another hotel I was looking at. $119 shoulder season, $360 high season. OMG
And yet another on Koh Phayam is over 4x the price in high season. :(
I know, what a problem to have LOL. I'll figure it out but yeah, it makes a difference!
On the flip side, I'm booking a trip in October and it's not quite shoulder season yet. It's still off season so I'm finding a difficult time arranging boats between the islands I want to go to. Like it's almost impossible. They simply aren't running yet. Sigh.
RFID Money Belt
I've researched a lot of different money belts. Everyone has their different taste in what type they like. This one you wear under your clothes around your waist. I'm very picky about the features of this. Comes in 2 sizes. It fits paper bills, has multiple pockets, the strap has a pocket to tuck in when you're not wearing it, lightweight, not too big, etc. Trust me, I looked at TONS of them to find this one. ;)
